Gabriel Galindez Cruz is a dancer, dance teacher and choreographer based in Berlin.
He is head of the Sasha Waltz & Guests Children's and Youth Dance Company, creates choreographies for concerts, dance theater, musicals and operas and produces his own pieces in Germany and abroad.
With his OTTO AUGENMERK dance theater series, Gabriel has been developing an inclusive and participatory art form for young audiences since 2021. This project brings his artistic and social fields of interest together.
Since fall 2020, he has been teaching theater pedagogy students at the Hochschule der Künste (UDK) in Berlin. He conceptualizes and conducts school and inclusive education projects and regularly offers creative dance workshops for children and dance education seminars at institutions of in Germany and abroad.
Gabriel studied dance and choreography at the Centre National de Danse Contemporaine in Angers (CNDC), France, and at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst (HfMDK) in Frankfurt. From 2004 on, he danced on international stages in choreographies by Sasha Waltz, Toula Limnaios, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Grayson Millwood and Hyoung-Min Kim, among others. He was a member of the Staatstheater St. Gallen and the Sasha Waltz & Guests Company.
As a choreographer he has worked with the ZfinMalta National Company in Malta, the dance company CREA Bogotá-Colombia, Radialsystem Berlin, Sophiensaele Berlin and FELD - Theater für junges Publikum Berlin. He has worked with conductor Andres Orozco-Estrada for the National Youth Orchestra of Colombia and the Houston Symphony Orchestra. He choreographed for director Olaf Strieb at the Landesbühne Niedersachsen Nord, for director Malte Kreutzfeldt at the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau, at the Hessisches Stadttheater Wiesbaden and at the Theater Kiel.
